New Internet connection

Internet dishWe have had Internet but it would get slow (OK, very slow) at times. OK, very slow. So, I went shopping for a better option.

I found it with MayaNet in Panajachel. They have service in quite a few places on the lake but their “middle of San Antonio” service wasn’t going to cut it for me.

Then came out this morning to see what would work. The answer is a link from Santa Cruz. So far, so good. I have seen download speeds of up to 10Mb.

If you are looking for an Internet connection, they are worth a call. 7762-2992 or their office is located in the same plaza as Las Chinitas on Calle Santander.

Assuming all goes well, we will be adding a “guest phone” where you will be able to contact a guest here by calling a US phone number. In other words, free incoming phone calls for guests at the cost of a U.S. call. This is obviously a good thing if you are calling from the U.S. but calls to U.S. numbers tend to be much less expensive than calls to Guatemala from many other countries including Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
